Lakeland took the opening kickoff and drove to Osceola’s 1-yard line before fumbling the ball away just outside the end zone. Lakeland increased its lead to 9-0 with an 18-yard touchdown run by Markel Johnson 18 run with 1:20 remaining in the first quarter. Swint, one of the top junior rushers in the state has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury in the Kowboys preseason game. Osceola is playing without its top two running backs, junior Taevion Swint and sophomore Jeff SInophant. The Dreadnaughts, state champions last season, have opened a 16-0 lead going into the second quarter. But on the next play the Kowbous coughed up a fumble that was returned 80 yards for a Lakeland TD by Robert Anderson. Osceola got a 40-yard run from Notorious Reynolds. Lakeland increased its lead to 19-0 with a field goal with 5 minutes 4 seconds remaining in the second quarter. Lakeland scored on an 18-yard TD pass from Zander Smith to Jamar Taylor for a 26-0 lead with 44 seconds to go in the first half. The Kowboys held Lakeland scoreless in the third quarter but still trail 26-0 with 12 minutes to go. The Dreadnaughts (2-2) used excellent field position to score two offensive touchdowns, a safety and an 80-yard fumble return from Robert Anderson to build an insurmountable lead. Lakeland, the defending 4S state champ, did all its damage in the first half, rolling to the 26-0 road win.
